For regular forum systems, yes. However, for such a feature to be added here, it would have to be developed, and we've got a few too many things to add to our plate for that to be added right now. :) Perhaps for next year.
We know the cause of the post count difference; what I'm not sure about at this point is whether it will be fixed, or left as-is. Depends on the tech teams priorities.
